Banswara is a city in Banswara District in south Rajasthan in India. The territory of Banswara was established by Maharawal Jagmal Singh. It is named for the “bans” or bamboo backwoods in the territory. It is otherwise called ‘City of Hundred Islands’, because of essence of various islands on the Mahi River named “Chachakota” where the islands found, which moves through Banswara. 
Banswara city is represented by City Council (Nagar Parishad) which goes under Banswara Urban Agglomeration. The city has populace of 100,128, its urban/metropolitan populace is 101,177 of which 51,941 are guys and 49,236 are females.
